Immunization Requirements

An important message to all NEW students: In order to register in the William S. Hart Union High School District, students must be compliant to the California state immunization requirements.

For more information regarding immunization requirements, please visit: https://www.cdph.ca.gov/Programs/CID/DCDC/Pages/Immunization/School/shotsforschool.aspx

Exceptions

Conditional Enrollment

Students who are up‐to‐date on immunizations at the time of registration, but who will need more dosages at a later date will be considered “conditionally enrolled” and will be closely monitored for compliance when the next immunization dose is due.

Medical Exemption

As of January 1, 2021, The CAIR-ME website was launched and MUST be used by California physicians to submit ALL new Medical Exemptions for students. The website can be located at https://cair.cdph.ca.gov/exemptions. Medical Exemptions will NOT be accepted at the school sites. Why the change? Senate Bills (SB276 & SB714) were passed in 2019. As a result of the new laws, the California Department of Public Health (CDPH) launched the California Immunization Registry and Medical Exemption website (CAIR-ME) to request, issue, manage, and track medical exemptions for all required school immunizations in the state of California.

As of January 1, 2016, parents or guardians of students in any school or child care facility, whether public or private, are no longer able to submit a personal or religious belief exemption for a currently-required vaccine.

Steps to obtain a Medical Exemption:

  1. Parent/Guardian clicks on this link https://cair.cdph.ca.gov/exemptions and sets up their child’s CAIR ME account via the registration tab in the upper right hand corner of the webpage.
  2. A California Physician (MD or DO) writes a medical exemption and submits the exemption to the student’s established (see step 1) CAIR-ME account.
  3. Parent receives notification from the physician that the exemption was approved, retrieves it from the physician’s office, and presents it to the site health technician for verification.
  4. The student is granted school registration clearance upon CAIR-ME verification.

NOTE: CDPH may revoke exemptions in CAIR-ME that do not meet national standards. Schools, child care facilities, and parents will be notified if an exemption is revoked.
