Events & Announcements
 
Many new experiences and opportunities await students as they transition from elementary school to junior high. To help students prepare, Arroyo Seco offers the following events for students and their families.
The Arroyo Seco JHS counselors and administrators hosted a live virtual parent forum for all incoming 7th grade families on Thursday, March 14th, from 4:00-5:30. This was a great opportunity to gain insight into all things junior high! Thank you parents/guardians who were able to attend and for all the great questions you asked!

We are excited to have students and parents/guardians alike join us for our annual in-person 6th Grade Family Night! This event will take place on Thursday, March 28th, from 5:00-6:00 p.m.
 
The event will begin with the principal's welcome and performances by our amazing band and choir/drama students from 5:00-5:30. From 5:30-6:00 families will be able to tour our campus via an open-house style event. Students and families to get a feel for our campus by allowing them to access a variety of classrooms, locker rooms and other exciting locations on campus.
 
Jersey Mike's will be present selling boxed dinners for $10.00!
Students will take their ID photos, receive text books, and purchase PE clothes. More information can be found on our Summer Check-in page, which will be posted here in the weeks to come.
Student Schedules will be available through the Infinite Campus Parent Portal on the afternoon of Friday, August 9th. 
Arroyo Seco Courses
Arroyo Seco is a Junior High consisting of 7th & 8th grades. Students are placed on academic teams for their core classes of English, History, Math, and Science. Students also take a Physical Education class and a semester-long exploratory class or year-long elective class. Information about Exploratory Classes and Year-long Electives can be found below. The Course Catalog contains course descriptions for the 2023-2024 school year.
Students not in a year-long elective are placed in an exploratory class. Most seventh-grade students will be assigned Junior High Seminar for one semester and another exploratory class for the other. Students do NOT choose courses on the exploratory wheel. Please refer to the Arroyo Seco Course Catalog for course descriptions.

Specialty electives are year-long classes that involve either an audition or application. A student may choose to audition or apply for any of these courses.
