Since 2012, Santa Clarita Valley residents have gotten together and prepared and served homemade Thanksgiving meals to homeless people, veterans, residents in shelters, abuse victims, children, single mothers, police, fire people, sheriffs and hospital staff working on Thanksgiving Day in and around the SCV and surrounding areas. Over one hundred volunteers cook from Sunday until Thursday morning to get the meals delivered by lunch time on Thanksgiving Day to those who otherwise would not have a home cooked meal. Last year we fed 1,200 people and our goal is to feed 1,500 this year.
I am reaching out to our local middle and high schools to see if we can get volunteers to help prepare meals at a commercial kitchen by Home Depot on Soledad. No experience is necessary. We have two hour shifts from through Thanksgiving Day, 11/22. We would be happy to sign volunteer forms so that students can get credit for the time they donate. Of course, parents are welcome too.
I hope to hear back from you soon. Dawn 661-803-2166
*We accept donations aw well. This project costs $10,000, and we are accepting $25 gift cards to any grocery store or cash donations via FeedSCV website.
P.S. We will never turn down a hungry person or family. If you know anyone in need of a meal, please email Martha directly at email@example.com and we will make sure that they get a meal on Thanksgiving Day.
